This is the day the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad.
My computer is at the doc’s for a check-up, and because I am not proficient at writing on my iPhone today’s message will be brief.
A friend told me about a book by Janet Pope called “His Word in my Heart”. Janet Pope has memorized more than 90 books of the Bible and I have been inspired to begin committing God’s Word in my heart. I just started yesterday with Psalm 1.
I am reminded of a funeral I attended last year. The woman suffered from dementia the last years of her life, and though she could not remember how to brush her teeth she still quoted Scripture.
I want to be that kind of woman. Won’t you join me and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
Prayer:Father, we are so thankful for your Word that both forms and informs us. Help us, dear God, to store your Word in our hearts that we might be better disciples. Amen.

My mother in law also had Alzheimer’s. As she started to decline, she forget everyone except my daughter. One of the nurses told me that she felt Evelyn was still there to minister to others. Although she could not remember us or where she was at and often thought she was a young girl again, she would still say her prayers every night. This nurse told me that Evelyn lived her faith, even when Alzheimer claimed her. She was inspiration to all the nursing staff. God called her home eventually when her job was done. She had this disease – why God did not heal her and others like her, we don’t understand, but we do understand that through this trial, her love of God was a beacon of hope for others through her cloud of confusion. Through her whole life, her heart was filled with God’s word making her a better disciple at the end of her life. Blessings~ Patty
PS: I hope your computer is home soon!! 😉
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Sometimes I think we suffer so that the way we respond to our trials will serve to encourage others, and your mother-in-law’s life would certainly bear out that idea God bless you and your family. And, I too hope my computer is home soon. Hard to work with just my iPhone Blessings and may you have a wonderful Independence Day! Sent from my iPhone Have a blessed day!
