Be Strong
Joshua 1:7-9 (NIV) 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Psalms 31:23Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. 24Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.
Have you ever considered how vital personal strength and courage is to your living into and through your faith? While it is imperative that we place our faith in Jesus Christ, God tells us through His Word that maintaining strength and courage is necessary for those who love the Lord.
But how do we build up our courage when it seems our life is crumbling all around us? Joshua said we are to obey the law, to meditate on it day and night. We who are on the Calvary side of history understand that Jesus created a new covenant sealed with His own blood. It is not the law of Moses that will give us strength, but instead, it is the love of Jesus that strengthens and encourages us.
So be strong, fellow Christ followers! Fear not! Do not allow daily living needs or the slings and arrows of the enemy to defeat you. Remember, Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Banner, goes before each one of us to help fight our battles. Be strong!
