God is love

1 John 4:15-17

15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.

Do you remember when you first believed in Jesus?  Were you a small child or did you come to a believing faith in Christ later in your life?  How is your life different because of Jesus? Do you not only know but rely upon God’s love for you?

Sometimes it is good for us to reflect on questions such as these.  We are so busy just making it through the day that we forget, or perhaps even take for granted, the difference Jesus has made in each of our lives.

When I read this scripture I see that God’s love is one linear progression.

God is love>God Loves us>We love God>God’s love flows through us to others>The cycle is complete

We were made to love God, but God wants our love to flow to Him freely, and the more we love God the more God’s love flow through us to others.  Love becomes our nature because as God’s love grows within us we are changed into new creatures.

PRAYER:  Father, we cannot understand the nature of your love, but we are so thankful for it.  May we today reflect upon your love for us and how we can allow that love to flow through us. Amen
