God is great, God is good…

Dusky Beach-1Here in Arkansas we face another rainy day.  Last night we watched a harrowing rescue on the news as a person drove a car into a flooded area and quickly found herself in trouble.  While the news cameras were rolling, the car began to sink deeper into the water, which only hours ago had been a road, probably a road that woman traveled every day.  A man traveling the same road happened upon the car and began to work to try to attach a cable to the car to pull it to safety.  Quickly, the car began to slip deeper into the water and before our eyes the car became almost completely submerged.  The young man tried to break the windows with his bare hands to rescue those inside.  Thankfully, a rescue unit arrived and it appeared those within the car were pulled to safety.

When was the last time you were headed toward danger, but could not see the depth of the waters and therefore plunged in, unaware that you were in peril?  Was someone there to pull you to safety?

The Word says:  For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Psalm 27:5

God is our safety, and He is so good to place others in our paths who will also work to keep us safe from harm.  May we recognize our guardian angels when they appear, and may we stand ready to pull others to safety and to listen to the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit as He leads and directs us.
