Wait
(KJV) 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk and not faint.
And there it is…my favorite Bible verse.
When I was preaching, I was at least marginally aware of the times I prefaced the reading of God’s Word by saying, “this is one of my favorite scriptures.” And, truly, there are many Bible verses I love. But this one verse, indeed the entire 40th chapter of Isaiah, is the place I return to over and over. Beginning with the first verse where Isaiah says, “Comfort, comfort my people…” and ending with “…they shall mount up with wings as eagles…” May I tell you there is something about hearing these words that not only gives me peace, but I find my spirit soaring.
Think about it…El Elyon, the Most High God, wants to provide comfort for His people. And all we have to do is wait.
May we trust in God enough to wait on Him.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
